I'M BACK.
from St. Petersburg, Russia.
the city's really nice.
they really preserved all the old buildings.
ahhhhh the whole experience is too long to put here.
went to russia on a choir trip, but the competition was only on the last two days.
so the first few days was rehearsals and sightseeing.
went to see the hermitage museum, which incidentally is the winter palace where the romanovs lived. it's sooooo cool. the place is hugeeeee with chandeliers, paintings, architectural stuff all around.
then went to see peterhof, and it's huge, with 200 gravity fountains. it's the olden day way to be eco-friendly and yet show grandeur at its best.
saw some cathedrals, went into some. it's really super super nice.
then following nights got concert all the way.
wednesday night had a concert with MARIA, russian female ensemble. it was really nice. the church acoustics were super good. and I had to conduct the two chinese pieces.

but it was quite fun.

then the next night got festival concert.
and the following two days got competition.
there was a turkish choir singing a song from Les Choristes. quite nice. during the choir marathon.
during competition, I really felt like we gave our best on stage. and we got two golds for the two categories we participated in.
acjc and sfx got perfect scores.
in any case, I love the current weather in st. petersburg, though I wouldnt like to be there in winter.
the last few days the temperature hovered around 15 degrees.
i'm glad yet not glad to be back in singapore.
but it's an experience i'll never forget.
